The little child is growing in your womb is miraculous and pleasing but at the same time, the backaches and swollen feet may drive you anxious. This physical discomfort gives pain and restlessness to a pregnant lady. If you are having the same experiences, you must be looking for the ways to get rid of the pain.
Aromatherapy is the best and safe solution for this purpose. With it, you can lead a stress-free and healthy pregnancy. If you are unaware of this treatment method, here I have covered everything about it. Follow me in the post and you will come to know the best way of utilizing the aromatherapy. Let’s get started!
What is Aromatherapy?
This treatment method utilizes the essential oils, made of highly concentrated plant extracts, to boost the health and fitness. The chemicals present in the essential oils are absorbed by the body when they are applied. You can also inhale them through the vaporizer by diluting them in the base or carrier oil. These oils are as effective for our body as any other medicine.
The method has inherited its name for the pleasant smell of the oils.
Precautions for Pregnant Ladies
Experts do not recommend the use of Aromatherapy in the first trimester as it may contract the uterine and harm the baby in her very beginning leap of development.
So, it is beneficial to use it in the second or third trimester. But be choosy here. A small number of oils are safe to use (discussed in the article) in pregnancy, others should be avoided. As essential oils can cross the placenta, they can reach your baby and affect their development.
Only use one to two drops at a time as these oils are as strong as drugs. The expectant women, having Asthma, diabetes, Hay fever, thyroid, or any blood pressure, kidney related problems should not use this therapy. Also, do not continually use the same oil for a long time.
You can use these oils in several ways. The three easy and most commonly used ways are –
Mix one or two drops of essential oil with a teaspoon of the base oil. Select the base oil carefully. Do not use the substances which you are allergic to!
Add 2 drops of oil to the vaporizer and oils will be inhaled by your lungs as it will pass to your blood stream. The waste products will be released as sweat later by the body.
In Bathing Water
You can also add a maximum of 4 drops in a teaspoon of base oil, to the warm water which you will be using for the bath.

To lower down the blood pressure and restlessness, use citrus oils like tangerine or Neroli.
